PIANO TRIO CONCERT:

Beethoven's opus 1 is a set of three piano trios first performed in 1795, and dedicated to Prince Lichnowsky, however, despite this designation, these trios were not Beethoven's first published compositions; Clearly he recognized the Op. 1 compositions as the earliest ones he had produced that were substantial enough (and marketable enough) to fill out a first major publication to introduce his style of writing to the musical public.

Joseph Haydn's Piano Trio No. 39 was written during the final few weeks of his second trip to London, and one of a set of three dedicated to Rebecca Schroeter. It is perhaps his best-known piano trio, nicknamed the "Gypsy" or "Gypsy Rondo", because of its Rondo finale in 'Hungarian' style.
